This characteristic is crucial for diagnosing Delusional Disorder, as the specific nature of the delusions can help differentiate it from other psychotic disorders.

While the duration of the symptoms is important in establishing the diagnosis (it must last at least 1 month, but more commonly these delusions persist for longer), it is the clarity and thematic content of the delusions that underscore the diagnosis. Additionally, while substance use might complicate the diagnosis or lead to other considerations, it does not automatically prevent the diagnosis of Delusional Disorder if the delusions persist independently of substance influence.
